Japan. What an amazing country! I love the country so much that I have made it my personal mission to visit as many Japanese cities and towns as possible within my entire lifetime.
Having been to Tokyo and its surrounding towns quite a few times, I decided to focus an autumnal trip solely on Osaka and Kyoto. However, this post is dedicated to Osaka as I took way too many photos and ate too much that I have decided to split the cities into two different Explore posts :) Food, food, food, and more food. I basically ate my way through Osaka with a bit of sightseeing in-between. Being a nature fan, I did not enjoy Osaka as much as the other places I visited in Japan as it is a big city after all. However, I still enjoyed the food and the time spent in the city :) Warning: this post may contain images that will trigger hunger pangs and wanderlust. Let's go!

Sunday Stickies is a column where we reflect on the past week and pen those thoughts down on sticky pads. Expect notes to ourselves and others, advice, reminders for the week ahead, quotes, and anything random actually. Phew, it has been a really tiring week in the studio. We are actually typing this out at 1.26am on Sunday morning. We were just done with our first day at the General Weekends at Singaplural, and were about to crash and call it a night when we forgot that we have not done our Sunday Stickies! So here we are, reflecting and sharing our thoughts half asleep. Haha! Hello to all the new friends we made, and thank you guys for your support! It was a really humid day and with 99 Beach Road (the event venue) being rather out of the way, we are very thankful and appreciative of the warm response! Heh, pun intended. We are looking forward to tomorrow! As it is the last day of Singaplural, we are hoping to squeeze in some time to browse through the various exhibitions and installations at the event. If you have nothing to do tomorrow, do come down and check out the site. There is really cool art on display and it is definitely a unique way to spend your Sunday afternoon (: Min: Severe mood swings and extremely irritable. This was my week in a nutshell. Oh, and also the fact that I had a lot of avocados to eat this week. I love avocados and how it makes breakfast and lunch so yummy. So, that was a nice green highlight of my week! After a hiatus, we are finally back at art markets. I have got to admit my love-hate relationship with outdoor events. I dislike the heat and humidity intensely, but it is the same heat and humidity that drives Jia and I crazy. Not the bad kind of crazy, but the crazy crazy kind of happy. We laugh at our own jokes and we can't stop giving each other high fives and applauses. Laughter is definitely the solution and the cure to any horrid situation! Jia: I have been so joyful this week despite the rush of prepping for events and work. There were some hiccups during the week, but things were thankfully resolved quickly and awesomely. It always feels nice to be on the receiving end of great and efficient service. In return, I hope that honey&gazelle Design Studio will always be a provider of warm and great service as well. Pay it forward?
I guess my joyful spirit this week can be attributed to the fact that I have been counting my blessings and feeling just so thankful to the many good people in my life. In some way or another, everyone has been really kind and supportive, and it sincerely warms my heart. I should probably start writing down happy thoughts every day to keep this joyfulness in me alive and burning! - Tell us three good things that happened to you this week! With Love, Min+Jia. It has been five months since we released our first collection of notepads and we are so thrilled to update the store with three new designs. Jiffy Jots are back in stock with fresh designs and we have a special notepad for all you list-making lovers! As we have shared previously, we are huge notebooks and notepads devotees. Just a glance at our work desks and you would immediately see 3-4 books and pads lying around, all used on a daily basis for different purposes. We love them so much that it was such a breeze and so much fun designing the new notepads! Our notepads are designed to be portable, multifunctional, and reliable high quality tools with beautiful designs that you will always have on hand. All notepads have 50 pages and are professionally printed on acid-free, 90 gr/m² weight paper with a vellum finish. Acid-free paper basically means that the paper will not yellow over time and will remain that gorgeous soft white hue from day one to ever.
We have also provided paper that is thick enough to handle the needs of heavy-handed writers or marker pen users who often find their pages stained with ink that had seeped though. The notepads measure 107 x 139 mm (4.2″ x 5.5″), which is an awesome size to bring around for on-the-go scribbles and flashes of brilliance! Planning a wedding makes me dizzy with excitement. In February, I bought my dream gown that will be kept a secret because the 'first look' matters so much to me. And because of that, we will not be able to have a pre-wedding photoshoot with my wedding gown. *celebrates!*
In all honesty, I am not a fan of photoshoots. I am absolutely terrible in front of the camera and the camera certainly does not love me. I cannot imagine myself standing on top of rocks, decked out in full bridal gear and looking out to the horizons... But, what is a wedding without photographs? Eventually, my fiancé and I compromised and agreed on a casual low-key engagement photoshoot. And that means I get to shop for new white dresses that will suit our 'casual and low-key' theme! The dresses that I have curated below are sooooooo beautiful, I am having a hard time deciding which to get... Sunday Stickies is a column where we reflect on the past week and pen those thoughts down on sticky pads. Expect notes to ourselves and others, advice, reminders for the week ahead, quotes, and anything random actually. What a start to 2016! We had a couple of bumps in the beginning of the year but that's all behind us now. During our down time, we did lots of planning and preparations, and now we are extremely pumped up and ready to go. There will be many fun and grand plans coming your way this year! How do you like the new website so far? This is exactly the website we envisioned for honey&gazelle Design Studio since the very first day and we are so glad to be able to turn dreams into reality, bit by bit. Our other dreams include owning a duplex studio with kitty cats, dogs, and interns (haha)! We will be working hard towards achieving our dreams and we hope that you will grow the courage to chase yours too! Min: 2 months zoomed past us so quickly and say what? It's March already? I have 9 more months to the wedding and boy, am I glad to have settled the venue and the gown (yay!). I adore my gown so much, I may actually just wear it around the house in the future. Okay, I can get married now. Let's go. You know, Jia and I did so much in the past 3 months but for some strange reason, I can't list down everything we did. But I do remember all the warm and kind NUS students we met back in February! I love meeting nice people during our pop-ups. *warm fuzzy feeeeeeeling* Come say hi to us the next time you see us! We mean it when we say that your friendly 'hellos' make us feel really happy! :D Jia: I can't believe that this is the first Sunday Stickies post of the year! It is quite alarming how our 2 weeks hiatus in December turned out to be a 2 months break from the blog. It all started with our computers dying at the start of January. Following that, one thing led to another and before we knew it, hello... March? Oh well, that's life, right? I have missed the blog and Sunday Stickies, so I am glad that we are back!
This week was just a continued frenzy from the previous weeks of setting up this website and also looking after my sick cat. I have a feeling that things are looking up though, so I am excited to make the most of March! - Tell us: how has 2016 been? Are you looking forward to a new month? :) Love, Min+Jia |
