We have a weakness for home decorative items and plants. This weakness is especially crippling whenever we chance upon any planters, pots, and vases that catches our eyes. There are so many choices out there but it always feels special when you find one (or two, or ten) that immediately draws you in! With the completion dates of our individual homes and studio space approaching, our focus on planters and vases have been laser-sharp. We need them urgently to house our many plants and floral arrangements! Here are eight planters, pots, and vases that we found extremely attractive. 1 // West Elm Ceramic Llama Planter Add some fun and quirkiness to any small plant collection with this series of animal planters. Our favourite is the Llama! 2 // Botanicals by Hip Van Victoria Vase This sleek and elegant vase will complement any floral arrangement and sit in any styled room effortlessly! 3 // Anthropologie Chrysanthemum Large Pot The delicate and refined details of each chrysanthemum petal blew us away when we saw this hand-crafted cement pot. Best suited for lush greens! 4 // Karma Living Millifiori Vase Keep your floral arrangement simple when using a vase like this showstopper. The colourful flower accents will keep your mood uplifted and happy every time you see it! 5 // Crate and Barrel Grey Planter with Leather Hanger
This handcrafted earthenware is uncomplicated and gorgeously cool with its brown leather straps and brass hardware. Perfect for a neutral-toned home! 6 // Roseline Pottery Mountain Rose Planter We love scouring Etsy for unique planters and pots. This planter is a work of art and would look absolutely perfect housing a juicy succulent! 7 // Anthropologie Bismark Garden Pot We absolutely love the colours, irregularties and cracks in this collection of hand-painted terracotta planters! 8 // Urban Outfitters Henry Googly Eye Planters Well... things tend to look cuter with a pair of googly eyes on it, and this collection of natural clay earthenware is no different! - Have you seen any unique planters, pots, or vases recently? It wasn’t too long ago when copper was the talk of the town. From eclectic statement jewelry pieces to industrial table lamps, the versatility of copper has given all metallics a good reputation, and a good reason to continue its reign in the world of design. While copper remains a hot favourite, we have noticed the rise of another metal, or alloy, that may just outshine copper with its burnished and vintage look. And that star is none other than the all-time favourite metal - brass. Brass can range from a bright and golden hue, often found in musical instruments, to a darker and distressed antique look. It is also relatively easier to incorporate brass without the fear of it going out of trend. Brass items, if well taken care of, can age beautifully into vintage-looking items. Perhaps that is why brass is typically used for door knobs, lighting fixtures, ornate picture frames and jewelry. Whatever your brass hue preferences are, there is surely something for everyone. I personally love the soft, vintage look of aged brass over the bright red hues of copper. Here are some brass items that I am loving! 1 // Kinsey Magazine Rack in Brass
At first glance, I thought this was a dish rack instead of a magazine rack. Dish rack or not, this stylish and eye-catching brass-finished magazine rack is surely a conversation starter for every home. 2 // Royal Theatre Frame Ornate frames make good statement pieces because its fanciness and details. Just try not to load the detailed frame with a complicated picture. I think featuring a stalk of dried flower against an ornate frame may just be the prettiest and romantic thing ever! 3 // Waif Triple Stacked Pebble Necklace Another easy way to include and incorporate a new metal to your life is to wear it. Pair a long necklace or statement earrings to a simple yet structured outfit to effortlessly exude a modern and edgy look. 4 // Brass Coaster Set Coasters may sound like a boring gift idea but it is actually really underrated. Especially if they look as good as these brass coasters! No one likes seeing white rings on a wooden table, so always make sure to use a coaster for cold drinks! - What are some of your favourite ways to use brass? :) xMin Ho ho ho! Nike x Liberty Liberty Print Tennis Classic Ultra Trainers If your mom enjoys gallivanting around town or just walking a lot, maybe you should consider getting her a stylish pair of trainers! This extremely gorgeous pair would elevate her ‘effortlessly cool’ mom status and get her to places with ultimate ease and comfort! 2 // For the mom who croons like a rockstar in the shower: KOHLER Showerhead and Wireless Speaker I am pretty sure we all know of someone, ahem-mom-coughs, who loves to sing in the shower. With so many sad and strange things happening in the world today, we can really use this showerhead speaker to make life a tad happier. Just be sure to set a bathing schedule for every member of the family because someone's surely gonna hog the bathroom! 3 // For the dad who loves long drives Kiss&Tell Premium Memory Foam Car Lumbar Cushion Some people drive for functionality while others thoroughly enjoy the cruise. Driving for long hours however, is not the most ideal situation for your back. This Kiss&Tell Premium Memory Foam Car Lumbar Cushion would ensure that the long drives are comfortable for your pop’s soul and back! 4 // For the dad who loves to get his hands dirty with the grill Lotusgrill in corn yellow Make your dad's chef dreams come true with this fun and portable charcoal grill. With a grill so simple to use and set up, the family can now gather and barbecue at the dining table at any time of the day or year, without worrying that the weather conditions will ruin the fun. I absolutely love its compact design and its wide selection of colours. Did anyone say s'mores? A couple of days ago, my dad and I rescued a kitten! We are now proud cat-parents to 3 weeks old Sushi, the tiniest and most adorable kitten ever. We rescued Sushi from a drain on a rainy Monday morning. A wet and scared Sushi was stuck and was almost washed away by the heavy flow of rain water since he weighs only about 250g. He is so tiny! It was a speedy rescue mission and my dad attached a scoop to a bamboo pole and heaved it over the tall fence to where the kitty was. Smart Sushi jumped straight in and we have kept him warm since then.
Now that I am surrounded by Sushi and our resident office cats, Trooper and Boba, I have officially become a cat lady. All I think about every minute of every day are cats, cats and more cats. In this Curate post, Jia and I have put together a wishlist of cat supplies that we would like to have for the feline loves in our lives. Ahhh, what a wonderful world! Meowww~ Min 1 // Giantex Pet Hammock Sushi is currently sleeping in a huge cardboard box. Athough they say that cats love cardboard boxes, I still would like to get a cushy bed for him. I was attracted to this hammock bed the very moment I saw it. The bright and bold pop of colour somehow makes the hammock bed very inviting and appealing. Now, is this hammock for me or for Sushi? 2 // Drinkwell Pagoda Water Fountain I was slightly taken aback when Jia told me that Trooper likes to take a drink from a running tap. Strange, I thought cats hate water. After reading around, I found out that water fountains can hydrate and entertain cats. Cats absolute love it! I can't wait to get one so that Sushi can load up on his water intake. #anxiouscatmom 3 // Cat Washroom-Nightstand Pet House How fancy and chic is this cat litter box! I can imagine adding this cat washroom in a nice cosy corner of my future house. Now that we have a cat, my future house may have to include some cat-friendly features! I love how functional and aesthetically-pleasing this cat washroom is. Besides the fantastic design for storage, I really like how kittycats can feel safe and have their private moments while clearing their bowels. I'm sold! 4 // Cat Haven Large Cat Tree If I can only have one wish granted from this grand wishlist, I would really like for this cat tree dream to come true. I have always wanted a tree house, especially so after reading the many adventures of Famous Five. This cat tree is such a dream for me and my kittycat! Just imagine the adventures the kitty can have in this cat tree! Major love! Jia
5 // Whack A Mouse Cat Toy I can see Trooper, Boba, and Sushi being entertained for hours with this toy. Anything that works up the curiosity of my two kitties is a winner and I am hoping that this would also help to sharpen Boba and Sushi’s hunting skills. After reading the reviews on Amazon, I am excited to use other smaller toys with the box to keep them pumped up and ready to pounce! 6 // NoBowl Feeding System I first came across the NoBowl Feeding System on Kickstarter and after reading up on it, I was completely sold. It is finally produced and ready for shipping, and I am so excited to receive it! Trooper is a gobbler. He scarfs and barfs his kibble lunch at least once a month because he wants to eat all he can in the fastest time possible and then get to playing immediately. Here’s hoping the NoBowl helps him to portion his food intake appropriately! 7 // Catnip Fortune Cookies Trooper always steals toys from Boba. He is sharper and faster in comparison because Boba is a special needs kitty. Thus, I am always looking out for toys that wouldn’t catch the fancy of Trooper but would hold the attention of Boba in the long run. This Catnip Fortune Cookies is super cute and just the toy for Boba as he wholeheartedly loves catnip while Trooper does not respond to catnip at all. I love the little fortunes written on the toys and the Chinese take-out box that comes with them! 8 // LooLoo Wheel Tower Scratch The only real estate I am genuinely interested in is in cat houses and towers. I am always checking them out whenever I pass a pet store or when I am browsing around online for cat toys. This cat tower caught my eye because of its upgraded hamster wheel concept! Everyone has been calling Trooper a fat cat recently, so I think it is time he got more intensive exercise. Love the height and various shelves and activities on this tower too! This is most definitely a worthy investment. - Do you have a cat? What products or tips can you give to a new cat mama? x Min (All images taken from the product sources. Links provided in the description.) For the past few months (or actually, half a year), we have been knee-deep in the wedding preparations of Min and our other close friends, as well as wedding styling for clients. If you took a peek at the screens of our mobile phones while we are in transit, you would most likely see images of flowers, gowns, table settings, decorations, and engagement rings. Yes, we are always doing some sort of research on weddings! As we wrap up a wedding styling project, we thought it would be fun to share our curated thoughts on awesome flower choices for weddings. When it comes to florals, we have pretty different preferences. Min adores her lush greenery and botany options, while Jia loves big blooms and she cannot lie. 10 points for you if you got that song reference… or should it be minus 10 points for knowing such a terrible song? Whatever it is, we hope that this Curate post will give you some beautiful floral inspiration! Min 1 // Philodendron Leaves I have always referred to this leaf as a 'tropical palm leaf' because of its size and colour. This particular Philodendron leaf is my current wedding botany craze because of its deep green colour and unique leaf shape. I love how sleek it looks in a glass bottle and especially how the sheer size of this leaf makes a stunning stand-alone centrepiece. I don't think it is necessary to adorn a wedding venue with flowers. Ferns and leaves can also be elegant and romantic! (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 2 // Proteas Proteas is the national flower of South Africa. I once received a bouquet of wild flowers with a deep red Protea for my birthday and I was so captivated by its shape. When I was in Cape Town earlier this year, I saw Proteas growing in its natural habitat and it was so beautiful. Its unusual bloom will definitely spruce up any bouquet. I honestly had enough of roses as the go-to flower pick for wedding bouquets! It's time to throw in something fun and exotic! (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 3 // Magnolias I am attracted to all things Magnolia! The use of the solid large white petals against a sea of deep green leaves in wedding floral arrangements is incredibly stylish and slightly less mainstream. If only it isn't that hard to find Magnolia in Singapore... at an affordable price. (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 4 // Eucalyptus Eucalyptus has been one of those 'Cool Girl' wedding floral picks for the past few years. There is just something attractive about its muted colour and the way it pairs very well with almost any flower. I think it elevates the entire look of the floral arrangement to a whole new level of "coolness". (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) Jia
1 // Tulips So clean and classically chic, tulips are definitely one of my favourite flowers of all time. I love having the option of minimal floral accompaniments when putting together a tulip-centric centrepiece. Just a bunch of fresh tulips in a glass vase is enough and oh, so gorgeous. (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 2 // Peonies Ah, peonies. I am a sucker for big blooms and I would have to say that peonies have one of the most magical full blooms of all. They are so breathtaking in springtime and a fresh bouquet of sweet-smelling peonies always make me swoon. Do you know that peonies are regarded as a symbol of a happy marriage?(click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 3 // Hydrangeas Besides tulips, blue hydrangeas are another of my favourite flowers. The voluminous shape and feathery soft petals makes for such a lush and comforting sight. Using hydrangeas will instantly add a touch of romance and femininity to any occasion, thus these pretty flowers should be a consideration for all weddings! (click here to go to featured flower arrangement) 4 // Daisies Fun and lighthearted, daisies are a great pick for a casual and relaxed wedding. They fit easily into various themes, from an earthy rustic concept to a cheery garden setting. I smile every time I see daisies and I always photograph wild daisies if I happen to chance upon them when I am out and about. They are just the happiest flowers to me!
