March has been a really busy month for us. When projects and commitments start to pile up, we tend to neglect the good habits we have been trying to put in place. As a new month and a peak period approaches, we are determined to get back on track with making the right choices in our daily lives. Cheer us on!
What do you hope to achieve in April? 1. Re-embrace daily #eatclean habits - stop eating junk food! 2. Devote more time to cooking instead of relying on outside lunches. 3. Drink more water, especially during the weekends. Bring back the ice fishies! 4. Be consistent in the daily stretching routine. 5. Pull away from working until the wee hours to relax and read more. 6. Back up the work computers with time machine twice a month. 7. Get out to spend more time with family and friends. - With Love, Min+Jia. Let’s talk about life today. Have you ever thought about blasting back to the past to change certain things? Life may be jolly good thus far, but I can't say it has never crossed my mind to zip back to the past to give my younger self a little heads up. If I could, I would tell my younger self to always wear sunscreen, to never settle for anything and everything, and to cut down on my ridiculous junk food intake. Admittedly, I wish I made more sensible decisions when I was a teenage because I am definitely reaping whatever seeds I sown - some more dreadful than the other. But surely everything happens for a reason and I am who I am today because of the paths I chose. If you had it your way, what exactly would you tell your 13 year old self? Here’s what Jia and I would say. Dear younger Min... Many influences of the world will make you feel small, worthless and unaccepted all throughout the course of your life. Life’s greatest struggle is never about fitting in with the crowd, but rather choosing to be happy knowing that you have been made different from everyone else. One day, you will come to love your big hair, chubby body and your awkward sense of humour - because that’s what defines you. Dear younger Min... Never stop reading. Some people will mock you for being a bookworm and whatnot, but there’s no shame in reading! The greatest shame is to deny knowledge. Dear younger Jia... There will be a point in your life in a few years time when you will get caught up in unnecessary hurtful drama caused by fair weathered friends. Your mood and life will spiral into darkness for a bit, but don't worry. Old friends will return for good and bad friends will make a complete exit from your life. Things will work out for the best and life will just go up up up from there on. The love of your life is just around the corner. Pssst, look up. Dear younger Jia... Your brother is right. Pride comes before the fall. You can't navigate through life on your own. You are not an island. Pull your loved ones closer to you and learn to depend on them. They will be a source of strength and encouragement when you least expect it. You are so blessed! -
How were you like when you were 13? Did you follow any advice that was given to you? :) xMin If you are a budding graphic designer, a seasoned pro, or just someone who loves creating your own little projects, you would be familiar with the long-drawn search for the perfect font. Searching and downloading ideal fonts take up so much time but is essential in many design work as you simply can't rely on the basic ones that comes with your computer. Honestly speaking, we really cannot use Helvetica for every single design, right? Even though I create my own fonts for honey&gazelle Design Studio, I still love to scour the internet for awesome fonts. I am a font-addict. I collect them like how many beauty junkies collect nail polishes and lipsticks! The nicer and well-structured fonts out there tends to come along with a hefty price tag but once you search hard enough, you can find gems that are free or donation-based. If you are just looking to design something for fun, here are some free fonts for personal use. To download, just click on its name or the image above it. Enjoy! Manifesto Created by Tomaz Leskovec who was inspired by the Italian rationalist movement in the mid 1920s, Manifesto is a super clean uppercase show font that is simply perfect for headlines. Parisish If you are looking for a multifunctional elegant typeface, Parisish is it! Parisish was created by George Williams and the old Parisian art-deco vibe of it is just stunning. Anders Anders was designed by Tom Anders Watkins who wanted to create a modern and minimal san serif display font. This geometric typeface will work terrifically with many trendy designs, especially in promotional materials for festivals and events. High Tide This decorative alternative typeface was designed by Filipe Rolim. High Tide is great for any hipster and/or stylised poster design or logos! Bellaboo
Adorably quirky and sweet, Bellaboo is an all caps handmade font from Marcelo Reis Melo. Use this for craft projects or anything that needs a little bit of charm! - Hope you liked at least a couple of the fonts above! Do let me know if you would like to have more posts featuring curated design resources for your projects. Just drop us a note! <3 Jia The new week has barely started, but for us, the previous week hasn't even ended. A studio project was extended into the whole weekend by our client and without a break in sight, we are starting to feel fatigue creeping up on us! Whenever we have tiny spare pockets of time on our hands, we find ourselves idly browsing through travel pictures on Pinterest. In between moments of chaos, these pins gently guides us into a soothing and relaxing state of wanderlust. If only we could drop everything and just leap straight into the pictures! -
