South Africa has been my dream holiday destination for as long as I can remember. I was extremely determined to make it to South Africa some day after I 'discovered' The Cape of Good Hope on the world map at six years old. Even though I have finally visited the country in May, I am still reluctant to strike it off my to-go-list and bucket list because I am waiting for another opportunity to be back in South Africa. My love for South Africa grew leaps and bounds after we subscribed to cable TV at home. Every weekend, my dad and I would binge watch countless of documentaries on the National Geographic channel and marvel at the beauty of God's creation. When we finally get tired from watching the telly, we would often take a drive to a nearby nature park to bird watch, spot monkeys and listen to the sounds of nature. Such good memories! Cape Town, I can't wait to be back! Do // Take a hike up Table Mountain No trip to Cape Town is complete without visiting any part of Table Mountain. I hiked up the mountain via Platteklip Gorge; the most direct and popular route but definitely not the easiest one. The route is extremely scenic at every turn, so do bring along a camera. I wished we brought more water because we ran out of drinking water halfway through. I still have no idea how we managed to reach the summit without any water. When we finally got to the summit, we were in awe of the breathtaking view. Part of the mountain was covered in thick fluffy clouds and it felt good standing above the clouds. See // Penguins at Boulders Beach Boulders Beach is the home to many African penguins. There were many penguins swimming in the clear shallow waters of the Atlantic Ocean, sun bathing and I spotted some penguins nesting under the shade. This is the place to be for all penguin lovers! Eat // Tapas at The Chef's Warehouse and The Pot Luck Club The Pot Luck Club could possibly be my favourite restaurant in the whole world. Every dish that we ordered tickled my tastebuds with so much excitement that I actually ordered another round of beef. I love my beef and I pledge my love to the world's best tasting beef fillet with black pepper and truffle café au lait. I also recommend checking out Tapas for 2 at The Chef's Warehouse & Canteen for a tasty selection of tapas served over 3 courses. Remember to inform the servers of any food allergy or dietary preferences! Explore // Table Mountain National Park The Cape of Good Hope is located within Table Mountain National Park and this is where I have always wanted to visit. I teared when I finally stood on top of a rock at Cape Point, the southern tip of South Africa. Dreams do come true! See // The African Sunrise and Sunset God's creation is simply too amazing. I saw many different colour combinations of sunrises and sunsets during my time in South Africa. It was all too beautiful. Socks, the kitty cat came to say goodbye on my last night at Cape Town. He was quite a brave explorer; sniffing our bags, clothes and resting in our luggages before finally bidding goodbye to us. I miss you already, Socks!
