This post was initially entitled "Behind The Scenes // What We Did In March" but we were so caught up with the launch of our website that we failed to pause and shoot the moments. Thus, Min and I decided that we will collate two months' worth of behind the scenes photographs to create a longer and hopefully, more interesting picture post! Our last (and only) BTS post was way back in October and since then, we have been getting requests from readers and customers to continue blogging about the insides of a design studio. So, here it is! We are trying our best to remember to document more of our lives and work in photographs to create a series of bi-monthly Behind The Scenes posts. For now, here is a little peek at what we did in the months of March and April (: The main bulk of our studio time is dedicated to client commissioned projects and developing new designs and products. However, we didn't manage to capture those moments in photos as most of our clients are private and it is obviously rather strange to take photographs during meetings! We will try to shoot more of our development process next time though! (: Packing and Readying New Stock and Products About a quarter of our time is usually spent packing and preparing our new products for sale. If you follow us on Instagram or read our Sunday Stickies, you will know that we love to produce stickers whenever we have a pop-up event. A ton of time - usually after our official working hours and with a TV show at the background - is spent cutting stickers in preparation for an event. A new batch of the Say It With Words Greeting Cards arrived at our studio in March! We had to quickly pack them as they were selling out quickly. When our art prints are ready at the printers, we usually inspect them closely and return back to the studio to personally trim the ones that were not up to our standards. This is when our eyes get all wonky from staring at the art prints for too long. Haha! I took the photo on the right while we were packing our newest postcards with the help of a friend from Kisetsu, at The People Avenue's Pop-Up Store. A few weeks ago, we took over the store and moved our studio operations down so that we can get some work done! We cut, and we cut, and we cut. We have decided to stock our some of our sticker packs at The People's Avenue Pop-Up Store as well. Check them out, if you happen to be in Orchard Road!

Yes, we have finally created and released three new art prints. It has been a couple of months since new art prints were launched in our store and we are glad to inject some life into our art print selection! The art prints are all professionally printed on premium 300gsm matte photo paper. Let's get this out of the way: we love matte paper. This is why all our products are printed on matte paper, and as much as possible, 100% recycled matte paper. However, do you know that you can drop in a special request to us, if you would like an art print to be printed on another material? We have printed copies of our art prints on super glossy sheets and even a full page sticker! These are by-request only and you just have to contact us for more information, if you have a special idea in mind. Likewise, the Readymade Collection of art prints are also available for print in various paper types! Here are our newest art prints to arrive in our store. I truly hope you will like them, as I had a blast designing these! The colours and energy of the art prints are unlike any we had in the store previously. I hope you love the new art prints! <3 Jia It has been five months since we released our first collection of notepads and we are so thrilled to update the store with three new designs. Jiffy Jots are back in stock with fresh designs and we have a special notepad for all you list-making lovers! As we have shared previously, we are huge notebooks and notepads devotees. Just a glance at our work desks and you would immediately see 3-4 books and pads lying around, all used on a daily basis for different purposes. We love them so much that it was such a breeze and so much fun designing the new notepads! Our notepads are designed to be portable, multifunctional, and reliable high quality tools with beautiful designs that you will always have on hand. All notepads have 50 pages and are professionally printed on acid-free, 90 gr/m² weight paper with a vellum finish. Acid-free paper basically means that the paper will not yellow over time and will remain that gorgeous soft white hue from day one to ever.
We have also provided paper that is thick enough to handle the needs of heavy-handed writers or marker pen users who often find their pages stained with ink that had seeped though. The notepads measure 107 x 139 mm (4.2″ x 5.5″), which is an awesome size to bring around for on-the-go scribbles and flashes of brilliance! Planning a wedding makes me dizzy with excitement. In February, I bought my dream gown that will be kept a secret because the 'first look' matters so much to me. And because of that, we will not be able to have a pre-wedding photoshoot with my wedding gown. *celebrates!*
In all honesty, I am not a fan of photoshoots. I am absolutely terrible in front of the camera and the camera certainly does not love me. I cannot imagine myself standing on top of rocks, decked out in full bridal gear and looking out to the horizons... But, what is a wedding without photographs? Eventually, my fiancé and I compromised and agreed on a casual low-key engagement photoshoot. And that means I get to shop for new white dresses that will suit our 'casual and low-key' theme! The dresses that I have curated below are sooooooo beautiful, I am having a hard time deciding which to get... Hello everyone! Thank you for your patience and we are glad to say that we are finally back and here to stay! We have been working very hard for the last couple months and have so much lined up for you. This is going to be a pretty long update post, so grab a drink of choice and read on. New Home Firstly, hello new website! We have consolidated our blog and our online stores into one happy website. Yes, here we are on our new frontier. Website Tour You can now easily browse and purchase products in our Store, read our Blog, and even work on customising some paper goodies all in the same website. Also in the Store, we have entered some of our sold out or discontinued products into The Vault. If you have something you really like from our previous collections, don't be shy! Just drop us an email telling us how much you like it and we may just bring it back! :) We will continue to make appearances at various pop-up art markets throughout the year. Head to the Calendar of Events page under About to check when you can shop with us in person. We believe that many of you will love the Downloads section. There, you can find all the past free wallpapers and printables. Check back frequently as we will update that page quite regularly! If you were always curious about what we do exactly when we are not working on our own products, check out the Studio tab. Over there, you will find information on the three main aspects of our design studio: Custom Design; Event Styling; and Corporate Branding and Marketing. We have also launched our Readymade Collection where you have the option to semi-customise some products and the new Wedding Suite Design Service where you can create your own wedding suite design package for your big day. There is also a Customer Care section in the footer where you will find Help and frequently asked questions (FAQ) amongst other information. Our Online Stores Besides from our new main online store (here!), our Carousell and Society6 stores will continue to serve you while we slowly ease out of Etsy. By May 2016, we will officially bid farewell to our beloved Etsy store. New Arrivals If you do not follow us on Instagram or Facebook (why not though?), we guess that you would not have known that we have some new notebooks and greeting cards in store. Check out our new arrivals to see if you fancy some new writing materials.
Just like before, we have planned and scheduled new products to come your way on a monthly basis. And yep, you guessed it. We are absolutely thrilled about our new stuff but will not be revealing any bit of it yet! What we can tell you is that honey&gazelle Design Studio will be turning 1 in a couple of months! Hooray! Birthdays mean that we can get to celebrate, and when we celebrate, you celebrate with us too. *wink wink* On a more serious note, we can't emphasise how grateful we are for coming this far. *tears of joy* Thank you for all your support! Oh, by the way, we have also picked up a new email along the way, so update your contact book with our new address: hello@honeyandgazelle.com. Thanks for sticking around and enjoy the new space! - What do you think of our new website? Share with us in the comments below! :) With Love, Min+Jia |
